The Finelli Estate
Although the Finelli Estate is well known by members of the Elkland Community, it doesn't have such a vivid past. Little is known about it except that it has had approximately three owners, two of them being doctors. In 1849, the home was built for a Doctor Whitteker. He held his practice there during the middle of the nineteenth century and he also served as a councilman. The eighth doctor in Elkland was Dr. Hiram Z. Frisbie who held his practice in the home after Dr. Whitteker. Dr. Frisbie settled in Elkland in 1896 and practiced until his death in 1936. His widow remained in the house until the 1950's when it was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Finelli. Dr. Frisbie's offices were occupied by attorney Edwin A. Glover. Mrs. Elma Finelli now runs her beauty salon in the house that they have done some remodeling in over time. One of the most distinct characteristics of the property is the small village of 'doll' houses out back. They are a beautiful sight and there are four of them each different and unique. Below are some photos of them.
